Leading the Gators on the field and off

Mark Gold, M.D., the 17th Distinguished Alumni Professor for 2011 to 2013 as selected by UF and the UF Alumni Association, leads the crowd doing the Gator chomp during the UF-Vanderbilt homecoming football game. With him are UFAA President Danita Nias and Michael Good, M.D., dean of the College of Medicine. Gold, the Donald Dizney Eminent Scholar, distinguished professor and chairman of the department of psychiatry, is a teacher of the year, researcher and inventor who has worked for nearly 40 years to develop models for understanding the effects of tobacco, cocaine and other drugs on the brain and behavior. He has also had nearly 40 years of successfully mentoring young addiction researchers, teachers, and clinicians. Read more.
