NBA star Corey Brewer’s basketball camp benefits diabetes programs at UF&Shands

Gator basketball legend and Denver Nuggets forward Corey Brewer’s third annual basketball camp in Gainesville runs Aug. 6-8.

The Corey Brewer Back-to-Back Youth Basketball Camp for boys and girls ages 9 to 18 features lectures, player evaluations, basketball drills, games and education sessions led by Brewer and other coaches from Five Star Basketball, the camp’s sponsor.

Proceeds from the camp will go to UF&Shands, the University of Florida Academic Health Center and the UF Diabetes Center of Excellence. Brewer established the Corey Brewer Fight Diabetes Fund to support patient education programs and raise awareness about the disease. Brewer’s father, Ellis Brewer, died in 2011 at age 68, of complications from diabetes.
