Doctors' Day: Celebrating UF Health physicians

Doctor wearing Stethoscope

At UF Health, we wouldn’t be able to treat, heal and care for our patients without our exceptional doctors who continually set the standard for compassionate and professional care for our community and beyond. From working long hours to staying calm under pressure, UF Health physicians go above and beyond to heal and save lives.

On March 30, we honor the doctors of UF Health during National Doctors' Day, an observance held every year to celebrate the contribution of physicians who serve our country by caring for its' citizens. The first Doctor's Day observance was in 1933 in Winder, Georgia, and began when Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, decided to set aside a day to honor physicians. This first observance included the mailing greeting cards and placing flowers on graves of deceased doctors. The observance continued yearly, and in 1958, the United States House of Representatives passed a resolution to commemorate Doctor's Day; legislation passed in 1990 after both the House and Senate approved a national Doctors' Day.

If you have been positively influenced by the work of one of our doctors, please join us in recognizing them by making a gift in honor of their extraordinary capacity for care.

Your gift of any amount recognizes those who have cared for you and allows us to expand the programs and services needed to deliver the latest treatments and therapies. With your gift, please consider including a note of thanks that will be delivered—along with a commemorative pin—to your caregiver.
