Sarah Carey, M.A., A.P.R., is director of public relations at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, a job she has held since 1990. Formerly, she was editor of Citrus & Vegetable Magazine in Tampa, and prior to that, served as editor of the weekly Gadsden County Times newspaper for five years. Sarah attended Duke University for two years and holds a master’s degree in English with a concentration in creative writing from Florida State University, where she also received her bachelor’s degree in political science. She received her accreditation in public relations from the Florida Public Relations Association in 1995 and completed her certification in medical writing and editing through the American Medical Writers Association in 2009. Sarah grew up in Tallahassee and has lived in Florida most of her life. A published poet, Sarah is also a longtime member and past board member of the Gainesville Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association. She has received three FPRA Image Awards and two grand image awards as well as several UF awards for her PR efforts on behalf of the college.​
