My bio

Hi, my name is Arun Chandran, and I am a board-certified pediatrics and pediatric cardiology physician here at UF Health. I received my medical degree from Christian Medical College in India. After completing my degree, I interned at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, Texas, in Internal medicine. Thereafter, I completed a pediatric residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago and a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. My inspiration to become a doctor was my mother who was an Obstetrician who worked hard to provide wholesome care to her patients while working with limited resources in Africa. I learned about the importance of dedicating one’s life to caring for other people from my parents. Since 2005, I have been a faculty member in the division of pediatric cardiology. I also serve as the director of the pediatric cardiac MRI/CT imaging program at the UF Health Congenital Heart Center. I am a member of the American Academy of Pediatricians, the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular MR. I also maintain an adjunct faculty position with the UF College of Medicine’s department of radiology and lead the Pediatric CMR/CT Center of Excellence

In 2010, I accepted an adjunct faculty position at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in the division of cardiology.

My clinical interests include noninvasive imaging that encompasses echocardiography, pediatric cardiac magnetic resonance and computed tomography angiography. My goals include providing efficient, effective and compassionate care to all my patients and they also include teaching the next generation of Pediatric cardiologists while performing Clinical research to better understand the application of Non-invasive imaging in Congenital heart disease. My patients can be rest assured that I will always be with them during their search for the solutions to their medical problems and will not leave any stone un-turned in that search.

My favorite ways to spend my time outside of work include spending time with my family as well as our dogs. I enjoy exercising, swimming and reading a wide range of topics with a special interest on spirituality.
