Critical Care Surgeon

My bio

I am a board-certified critical care surgeon in the University of Florida Division of Acute Care Surgery, where I treat patients who have suffered traumatic injuries. I also treat a wide range of surgical conditions, including biliary tract disease, diverticulitis and hernias. Outside of the operating room, I provide critical care management to surgical patients with critical illnesses, while serving as an assistant professor in the UF Department of Surgery. I was initially drawn to the field of medicine because I had an interest in anatomy and physiology. As my training progressed, I enjoyed the hands-on nature of surgery and how surgery was the ultimate treatment for many disease processes. I thrive in its fast-paced, efficient environment as well as the wide range of operative skills and knowledge required of a trauma surgeon.

Before applying to medical school, I knew I wanted to be a trauma surgeon and my decision never wavered. I attended medical school at the University of Kentucky, where I graduated with distinction. I went on to complete a general surgery residency at the Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia, followed by two years of fellowships in surgical critical care and acute care surgery at UF. After training, I joined the faculty here at UF Health and continue to work closely with our trauma team.

Outside of UF Health, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling and cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats.
