My bio
Dr. Asmita Gupte is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases & Global Medicine. She is an Infectious Disease Specialist with expertise in general infectious diseases, infections in solid organ transplantation, HIV/AIDS, and antimicrobial stewardship. She is board-certified in infectious diseases.
Dr. Gupte received her medical degree from University of Mumbai, India. She completed her internal medicine residency from the Boston University affiliated program at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, Rhode Island. She completed her infectious disease fellowship at the University of Florida and has been a faculty member at UF since 2009. Dr. Gupte is a staff physician in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Malcom Randall VA Medical center and serves as the Co-Director of Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at the VA.
Dr. Gupte enjoys teaching medical students, PA students, residents, and fellows and has received Exemplary Teaching Awards from the Department of Medicine and the UF College of Medicine. She is actively involved in the Infectious Disease Fellowship Program as a member of Clinical Competency Committee and the Program Evaluation Committee. Dr. Gupte is actively involved in clinical trials at the VA. She enjoys mentoring trainees providing guidance in writing clinical manuscripts resulting in the presentation of abstracts and published articles in peer reviewed journals.
