My bio

My name is Biplab Saha, MD, and I am an assistant professor of medicine in the University of Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine, as well as a faculty member in the Department of Lung Transplantation. My clinical interests focus on interstitial lung disease, lung, heart-lung and liver-lung transplantations, as well as critical care medicine. In addition, I enjoy being involved in the education of trainees and medical students.

I obtained my medical degree from Dhaka Medical College in Bangladesh and completed my internal medicine residency at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey. During my residency, I served as chief resident before completing a pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship at Albany Medical Center and College in New York. I also achieved a Certification in Medical Humanities at Drew University in New Jersey. Throughout my training and my career, I have been a recipient of multiple awards, including the outstanding medical student teaching award and the teaching fellow of the year award.

My research interest resolve around advanced lung disease due to diffuse alveolar hemorrhage, interstitial lung disease and rare lung diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary hemosiderosis, COVID-19 and lung transplantation. I have authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles encompassing different aspects of pulmonary and critical care diseases and have authored the educational documents on Idiopathic Pulmonary Hemosiderosis for the National Organization for Rare Disorders, or NORD.

I remain professionally involved as a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, or FCCP, and an active member of several committees, as well as a member of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, or ISHLT, American Thoracic Society, or ATS, and Extracorporeal Life Support Organization, or ELSO.
