About me

Hello, my name is Dr. Carolyn G. Carter, and I am a professor at the University of Florida in the Department of Pediatrics. As a pediatrician with a strong focus on teaching and scholarly activity, my research interests include nutrition and food science, technology and education, and cultural and linguistic competence. I completed my undergraduate studies at Florida State University and earned my medical degree, residency, and fellowship at the University of Florida. I am certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the Pediatric Board, and hold medical licenses in both Florida and Montana.

I am actively involved in several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Florida Pediatric Society, the Florida Medical Association, the Alachua County Medical Society, the Academic Pediatric Association, and the Florida Pediatric Alumni Association. I regularly attend regional and national conferences, where I have presented research on health literacy and technology.

I have served in leadership roles within medical organizations, including as president of the Alachua County Medical Society and as a district representative for the Florida Pediatric Society. I also work with medical students on mission trips to the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Additionally, I participate in community programs such as the Alachua County Sheriff's Office's annual Safety Patrol trip to Washington, D.C. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
