My bio
Christina Wilson, MD, PhD is a Professor of Neurology in the University of Florida College of Medicine. She serves as the Neurology Residency Program Director, Vascular Neurology Fellowship Director, and Associate Chair of Education for the Department of Neurology. She is also Chief of the Vascular Neurology Division and a key member of the only Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in north-central Florida.
Dr. Wilson graduated from Furman University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She completed her doctorate degree in pharmacology at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia; her research focused on the cell biology of presenilin proteins associated with Alzheimer’s disease, for which she was awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Predoctoral Fellowship. Dr. Wilson completed her medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania and was an intern in internal medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital, where she was elected Intern of the Year. After completing her neurology residency and vascular neurology fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Wilson joined the faculty of the UF Department of Neurology in 2013.
Dr. Wilson’s main interests lie in neurology graduate medical education and clinical stroke management. She currently provides stroke care for hospitalized inpatients as well as patients on the UF Mobile Stroke Treatment Units, which are a fleet of specialized ambulances that bring acute stroke care directly to the patient in the community. Dr. Wilson lectures regularly on stroke topics and mentors stroke fellows, medical students and residents. She has served as a primary investigator for several national clinical stroke trials. She received the AB Baker Teacher Recognition Award from the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) in 2017 and the AAN Residency-Fellowship Program Director Recognition Award in 2023, and has been honored as a UF College of Medicine Exemplary Teacher multiple times. She has served as a mentor for several neurology program directors through the AAN’s Director Mentorship Leadership Program and is the current President-Elect of the AAN Consortium of Neurology Program Directors.
