My bio

My name is David Shapiro, MD, and I joined the UF Department of Anesthesiology in 2019 as an assistant professor. I work in the Division of Multispecialty Anesthesiology as part of the Nighthawk Service.

I earned my medical degree from the University of Minnesota and completed my anesthesiology residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego. I have also had advanced clinical training in solid organ transplant from the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. Prior to coming to UF, I was the medical director of anesthesia at SouthPoint Surgery Center.

My specialties include solid organ transplant, combat/trauma anesthesia, and trauma resuscitation.
