My bio
My name is Dianne Fontanez-Nieves, MD, and I joined the Department of Anesthesiology in 2020 as an assistant professor in the Division of Multispecialty Anesthesiology. I earned my medical degree from the Universidad Central del Caribe in Bayamón, Puerto Rico and completed my anesthesiology residency at the University of Puerto Rico, where I also served as chief resident. Prior to joining the department, I was an associate consultant in the Department of Anesthesiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
I am a member of several anesthesiology and medical organizations, including the Society of Critical Care Medicine and American Society of Anesthesiologists, and I have made a significant number of contributions to abstracts, oral presentations, and publications. My research experience has included renal transplant outcomes.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, painting, ceramic sculpturing, writing, hiking, and kayaking.
