Erlyn C Smith, MD

Erlyn Smith, MD, graduated cum laude with her bachelor's degree in neurosciences from the University of California Los Angeles, and she received her medical degree from the Chicago Medical School at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her residency training in pediatrics followed by a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County in California.

Dr. Smith is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology, and she is a member of the American Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. Her research has been published in medical journals, including The Cancer Journal and the surgery section for the Journal of the American Medical Association. Dr. Smith is passionate about the Children’s Oncology Group, the world’s largest organization devoted exclusively to childhood and adolescent cancer research.

She says, “It takes a village to care for a child with cancer, and teamwork is very important whether the goal is cure or palliative care. I feel privileged to be a part of a family’s journey during this battle. I believe that the bond and trust between a pediatric oncologist and the patient and families are paramount."

Dr. Smith is employed by the University of Florida and practices at Ascension Sacred Heart in Pensacola.
