F. Kayser Enneking, MD

My name is Kayser Enneking, MD, and I am a professor of anesthesiology and orthopaedics. I joined the Department of Anesthesiology as an assistant professor in 1991. I earned my medical degree here at the University of Florida, completed my anesthesiology residency with an emphasis on cardiac anesthesia at the Texas Heart Institute, and completed a fellowship in regional anesthesiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Massachusetts.

I’ve held many roles over the course of my career at UF, including medical director for the Florida Surgical Center, chief of the Division of Regional Anesthesia, chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, and interim chair for the Department of Dermatology.

I’ve published more than 50 scholarly works in the area of regional anesthesia for orthopaedic surgeries and ambulatory anesthesia, and my interest in this field led to the development of new techniques for these patient populations.

In 2023, the University of Florida College of Medicine honored me with its Lifetime Achievement Award for my service at the university and my contributions to the field and UF Women in Medicine and Science presented me with the Diamond Award. Among many awards and honors, I’ve also been honored to receive the 2021 Gaston Labat Award and the 2020 Trailblazer Award both from the ASRA. I serve on the board of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and have chaired the Shands Quality Committee since 2003.
