About me

Hernan A. Prieto, M.D., grew up in Colombia and earned his medical degree at the National University of Colombia, School of Medicine before going on to complete his Orthopaedic surgery residency at the National University of Colombia and fellowships in Research at the Orthopaedic Institute at Mercy Hospital, Miami FL.

He had more than 7 years of experience in orthopedics, and trauma care before he came to United States in 2012 to complete his fellowship training in Adult Reconstructive Lower extremity surgery in Mayo Clinic at Rochester, MN, followed by Musculoskeletal Oncology and Adult Arthroplasty & Joint Reconstruction at University of Florida in Gainesville, FL.

Dr. Prieto clinical practice focuses on primary, revision joint replacement and complex reconstruction procedures around hip & knee, including hip preservation surgery. He also has authored several scientific publications. His passion and excellence in high quality research are remarkable and have launched UF Arthroplasty onto the international stage.

He is member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, as well as associate member of the Colombian Society of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Prieto is fluent in Spanish and English.
