My bio

I am an assistant professor and transplant nephrologist in the University of Florida Division of Nephrology, Hypertension & Renal Transplantation. As a transplant nephrologist, I help manage kidney transplant recipients before, during and after a kidney transplantation procedure. I aim to provide the highest quality of care for my patients and help guide them out of end stage renal disease. To provide the highest quality of care, I stay involved in nephrology advancements, so I can transcend the knowledge to a new generation of doctors.

My medical training began at the University of Khartoum in Sudan, where I received my Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1993. Afterward, I was the Senior House Officer at Khartoum Teaching Hospital in Sudan. Then, I relocated to the United Kingdom, where I was the Senior House Officer at Darlington Memorial Hospital. Finally, I moved to the U.S., where I completed an internal medicine residency at Nassau University Medical Center in New York. I wrapped up my training with five fellowships in various specialization: critical care at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Canada, infectious disease at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin, echocardiography at the University of Alabama, nephrology at Saint Louis University in Missouri and transplant nephrology at the University of Florida.

Practicing medicine in the U.S. and internationally has provided me with a unique and more holistic approach to my patient care. Drawing on these experiences allows me to provide the best quality of care possible to those patients entrusting me with their care. I am also a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Transplantation, the American Society of Nephrology, the American College of Physicians, the Infectious Disease Society of America and the American Chemical Society.

When not practicing at UF Health Shands Hospital, I enjoy swimming, reading and photography.
