Why is this important?

Focus

Dr. Wynn's clinical expertise and research program centers on the investigation of sepsis (life-threatening infection or "blood poisoning") in newborn and premature infants. Sepsis can affect 6/10 immature preterm neonates and 4/10 of those infected suffer death/major disability even in developed countries. Applications of his work include improving the accuracy of sepsis diagnostic methods, identification of prognostic and clinical stratification markers, and discovery of potential opportunities for translational interventions aimed at improving infection-related outcomes.
