About me

My name is Jamie Bass, and I received my doctorate of osteopathic medicine from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, Texas. I went on to complete the Riverside Family Medicine Residency Program in Newport News, Virginia, a geriatrics fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and an aging and dementia fellowship at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

My inspiration to become a physician started during my childhood. Growing up, I watched my grandmother suffer from multiple medical conditions and often accompanied her to her appointments. Seeing a female physician at one of those appointments sparked something in me because until that point, being from a very rural area, I had never met or seen a female physician. There was a moment of disbelief, but then I was intrigued and decided that’s what I wanted to do.

During my residency, I found I had an affinity for older adults that never waned, prompting me to pursue additional training as a geriatrician. I recognized the unique needs of this population and wanted to be equipped to meet those needs. Dementia became a particular interest of mine, and with a growing, aging population and increasing prevalence of dementia, I decided to pursue additional training in dementia diagnosis and treatment. I am also interested in management of diabetes, hypertension, polypharmacy and delirium prevention.

I would like my current and future patients to know that I aim to treat every patient the way I would want someone to treat each of my family members. When I’m not working, I enjoy reading, gardening, spending time with friends and family, and exploring new cuisines and locales.
