My bio

My name is Jerry Burger, MD, and I joined the Department of Anesthesiology as an assistant professor in 1981. I received my bachelor’s degree from State University of New York at Buffalo and my medical degree from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. I completed my internship and residency here at the University of Florida.

I’m now an associate professor of anesthesiology in the Division of Multispecialty Anesthesiology. Over the course of my career I have served as the director of Acute Pain Service at Shands Hospital, the medical director of the Shands Pain Management Clinic, the director of Chronic Pain Management Services at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and as the director of the Pain Medicine Fellowship in the Department of Anesthesiology. I’m also proud to be a three-time recipient of “Castle Connolly’s America’s Top Doctors” (for Pain Management) Award.
