My bio
My name is Keith Howell, MD, and I am an associate professor in the UF Department of Anesthesiology. In 2019, I joined the department in the Division of Multispecialty Anesthesiology. I earned my medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, completed a surgical internship at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, AL, and followed with an anesthesiology residency at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.
One my interests is clinical informatics, and I hold a certification in that sub-specialty from the American Board of Preventative Medicine. Prior to coming to the University of Florida, I was an associate professor in the Division of Acute Pain Management at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. I also dedicated part of my time there working as a physician informaticist, using technology to improve workflow and patient care. In my free time, I enjoy fly-fishing and other outdoor activities.
