About me

As an assistant professor and surgeon in the University of Florida Division of Acute Care Surgery, I care for patients who are traumatically injured and critically ill. The opportunity to care for critically injured people is incredibly rewarding.

I earned my bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. I pursued a residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, serving as administrative chief resident in my final year. Then, I completed a fellowship in surgical critical care and acute care surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

I am board certified in both general surgery and critical care by the American Board of Surgery. I have contributed to numerous manuscripts, presentations and research, with my interests involving trauma care, bone marrow dysfunction and chronic stress. In addition to founding various committees that direct diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, I have also served on peer review and violence prevention committees.
