My bio

Maritza Plaza, M.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine.

Dr. Plaza earned her medical degree from the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico before moving to the Sunshine State for a residency in pediatrics at the University of Florida. She then completed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando.

During her time in Puerto Rico, Dr. Plaza was the president of Pediatrics Interest Group, and she has since served on a handful of committees, including the resident liaison committee and GME quality advisory council at Orlando Health. She now serves on the PACE committee as a pediatric emergency medicine liaison at UF Health. She belongs to several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, American College of Emergency Physicians and Florida Medical Association, and she is fluent in Spanish.
