Matthew J Koch, MD : Bio and credentials

My name is Matthew Koch, MD, and I am a neurosurgeon specializing in endovascular and open surgical management of vascular lesions and brain tumors.

I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Princeton University and a medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. I completed my neurosurgery residency and endovascular neurosurgery fellowship at Harvard University’s teaching hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and my cerebrovascular neurosurgery fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

I joined the UF Department of Neurosurgery in 2021, and in addition to taking care of patients, I conduct research into the management of a variety of neurosurgical pathologies and the role of biomarkers in the prognosis and pathology of neurosurgical diseases.

I am a member of several neurosurgical organizations, including the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the North American Skull Base Society and the Society for NeuroInterventional Surgery.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, swimming, biking and exercising.
