My bio
Hello, my name is Maureen A. Novak, and I am a professor at the University of Florida in the Department of Pediatrics. I received my undergraduate degree from Princeton University and my medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School. I completed my pediatric residency at Strong Memorial Hospital at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, and stayed on to serve a year as chief resident. After spending a year in private practice, I completed a Pediatric Infectious Disease fellowship at Babies Hospital at Columbia University in New York City.
Upon moving to Gainesville, I worked in a pediatric practice as a generalist for five years before joining the General Pediatrics division at UF in 1997 as the head of the adolescent and young adult program. I served as residency program director from 2005 to 2010. My professional interests include integrating competency evaluation into resident and medical student education, infectious disease, and adolescent health. I have received multiple honors for my work in medical education.
