My bio
My name is Melissa Burger, MD, and I joined the Department of Anesthesiology as an assistant professor in the Divisions of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine in 2018. I earned my medical degree from the University of Miami and completed my anesthesiology residency at the University of Missouri. I completed two fellowships, Cardiovascular Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine, both here at the University of Florida. I am now jointly appointed to the Department of Surgery as an affiliate clinical assistant professor in addition to my position with the Department of Anesthesiology.
In 2023, I was appointed clinical director of research for the Division of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology in an effort to encourage research and collaboration in the division. I’m also very interested in teaching the next generation of anesthesiologists and was honored with an Exemplary Teacher Award from the College of Medicine in 2023.
