My bio
My name is Michael Fowler, MBA, MD, and I joined the Department of Anesthesiology in 2021 as an associate professor in the Division of Liver and Transplant Anesthesiology. I earned my MBA at Mercer University in Macon, GA, and my medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine. I completed my residency at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Medical Center.
My areas of expertise and interest include transplant anesthesia, regional anesthesia, ambulatory surgery, and postanesthesia recovery. Prior to joining the University of Florida, I was an associate professor in VCU’s Transplant Anesthesia Division. In 2020 alone, I performed more than 120 liver transplants and more than 300 kidney transplants. I also hold a patent for a flexible fiberoptic scope holder and storage device and have contributed to book chapters on postanesthesia recovery and anesthesia in pediatric interventional radiology.
In my free time, I enjoy playing golf, travelling, and spending time with my wife and kids.
