Dr. Chalouhi is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He provides care for patients with all neurosurgical conditions and specializes in neurovascular and spinal disorders. Dr. Chalouhi completed his neurosurgical training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. During his residency, Dr. Chalouhi completed his pediatric neurosurgery training at the renowned Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He has also dedicated a year for advanced training in treatment of complex spinal disorders. Dr. Chalouhi has completed the prestigious dual fellowship in endovascular and open vascular neurosurgery at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Dr. Chalouhi provides specialized care for patients with complex vascular disorders of the brain and spine including aneurysms, ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, arteriovenous malformations, carotid disease, and cavernous malformations. In addition, Dr. Chalouhi received extensive training in the treatment of spinal disorders at the Regional Spinal Cord Center of the Delaware Valley, one of the nation’s 16 Model Spinal Cord Injury Centers. He applies advanced surgical techniques to treat degenerative, infectious, vascular, neoplastic, and inflammatory conditions of the spine.
Dr. Chalouhi is engaged in several areas of research to improve the care of neurosurgical patients. He is a prolific researcher and has published extensively with over 250 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters. His research focuses on the mechanisms and treatments of intracranial aneurysms and all types of strokes. Dr. Chalouhi received the prestigious Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) Research Award in 2016 for his work on the biology of cerebral aneurysm formation and rupture.
