My bio

My name is Victor Zhang, MD, PhD, and I am associate professor in the UF Department of Anesthesiology. I work in the Division of Multispecialty Anesthesiology.

I earned my medical degree at Nanjing Medical University in China and my PhD in physiology at the Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine in Colombia, Missouri, where I also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Physiology. I came to the University of Florida to complete an internal medicine internship at University Medical Center in Jacksonville, and then came to Gainesville to complete my anesthesiology residency and a Cardiovascular Anesthesiology Fellowship.

I first joined the department as an assistant professor in 2001 and served as the chief of the Division of Liver Transplant Anesthesia in 2005. I then moved on to work at Anesthesia Consultants of CA Med Group in San Diego, California, where I was a staff physician and partner. I returned to the department in 2016 as an associate professor.
