Hello! My name is Dr. Rashmin Savani and I’m currently the chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine. Before arriving to UF Health, I served as division chief of neonatal-perinatal medicine and associate director for the Center for Pulmonary and Vascular Biology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where I also served as the William Buchanan Chair in Pediatrics. While in Dallas, I helped launch and enhance neonatal facilities at four area hospitals and established telemedicine programs for neonatal consultation and outreach. I attended medical school at the University of Sheffield School of Medicine in England and completed a pediatrics residency at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina. After residency, I pursued fellowships in neonatology and pulmonary biology at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, as well as a fellowship in cell and molecular biology at the University of Manitoba’s Manitoba Institute of Cell Biology in Winnipeg, Canada. Following training, I served on faculty at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, the University of Manitoba, the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine/Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and UT Southwestern Medical Center. I am also a member of the March of Dimes’ National Science Committee and a surveyor for the American Academy of Pediatrics NICU verification program. I have received a number of distinctions, including the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, the Perinatal Physician Excellence Award from the March of Dimes, and the Young Investigator Award for Perinatal Pediatrics from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
