My bio
Raul Perez, MD, completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Florida with a major of microbiology and cell science. A true gator, Dr. Perez stayed at UF to complete his medical degree and his residency training in internal medicine and a fellowship in infectious disease.
Palliative and supportive care has always been an area of interest dating back to medical school. Dr. Perez used an elective rotation during medical school to work with Hospice, caring for patients within care centers as well as patients receiving home hospice. During residency, Dr. Perez rotated on the palliative care service at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center. There he had the opportunity to interact with patients and their families, to discuss goals of care, wishes, fears, and to answer questions related to medical conditions. When the palliative and supportive care service was being formed, Dr. Perez seized the opportunity to join the health care team providing this valuable service.
