My bio
My name is Sonia Mehta, MD, and I am an associate professor in the UF Department of Anesthesiology in the Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology. I also am the course director for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: Neonatal Resuscitation Protocol.
I have a passion for education and enjoy teaching and finding ways for people to learn and retain information. I’ve received the University of Florida’s Exemplary Teaching Award three times and have been a visiting professor at Nova Southeast University and Santa Rosa, Honduras. I hold subspecialty certifications in both pediatric anesthesiology and basic transesophageal echocardiography along with my anesthesiology certification.
I joined the Department of Anesthesiology as an assistant professor in 2012. I received my medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Medical University and completed both my internship and anesthesiology residency here at the University of Florida. I then completed a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center before returning to Gainesville.
In my free time, I like to play piano and sing, travel, and spend time with my family and friends.
