My bio

Dr. Sreekala Prabhakaran has been a faculty in the UF Pediatric department since 2010. She is a Clinical Associate Professor and the Director of the Pediatric Severe Asthma Program at UF Health. Dr. Prabhakaran attended medical school in India, did her pediatric residency at Maimonides Medical Center in New York, and completed both Pulmonary and Sleep fellowships at UF. This interdisciplinary clinical program includes nursing, nutrition, social work and a new medico-legal partnership in which attorneys from the Southern Legal Counsel attend and assist patients in clinic. The clinic serves over 50 patients with severe asthma and has resulted in decreased hospital and ICU stays and decreased ER visits in this population. She has given several presentations on the topic of pediatric asthma and has a number of publications and a book chapter on this topic. She is interested in global health and has participated in patient care in India, as well as assisting on a medical mission trip to Zambia
