About me

My name is Timothy W. Martin, and I am a professor of anesthesiology and pediatrics in the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine. I am also the associate chair for education, director of the anesthesiology residency program, and chief of the Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology in the UF Department of Anesthesiology. I am certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) in the core specialty of anesthesiology and the subspecialties of pediatric anesthesiology and health care administration, leadership, and management. I am a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

I lead and provide oversight for the department’s excellent anesthesiology residency program and subspecialty fellowship programs. I serve on the UF College of Medicine Graduate Medical Education Committee in addition to numerous departmental committees. Nationally, I was honored to be elected the “at-large” member of the Board of Directors of the Pediatric Anesthesia Leadership Council for 2021-2027 and a councilor of the Association of Anesthesiology Core Program Directors for 2024-2026.

I completed both my undergraduate (BA in biology with distinction) and medical school degrees at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. I later obtained my MBA degree from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. I completed my internship and anesthesiology residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas (now part of the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium), where I was a chief resident. Following my residency, I finished a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

I served in the United States Air Force Reserve Medical Corps for 24 years, including 10 years on active duty. I am now retired from the United States Air Force Reserve at the permanent rank of colonel.
