My bio
Hi, my name is Valerie Numssen, M.D. I am a native New Yorker and currently reside in Gainesville. As an undergraduate, I earned my Bachelor's degrees in Biology and Psychology from SUNY Stony Brook. In 1996, I completed medical school at SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Upon completing medical school, I moved to Miami to complete my pediatric residency, which I finished at Miami Children's Hospital in 1999. I remained at Miami Children's Hospital after residency to fulfill my Fellowship in Ambulatory Care Pediatrics. As a Fellow, I assumed the role of an educator and provided instruction to both medical students and pediatric residents.
My mission as a pediatrician has been to empower patients and families through education. I was granted the opportunity to fulfill this goal by joining the UF Pediatric Faculty Group. As a member of UF's faculty, I have the opportunity to be an educator, teacher, and mentor. I worked in private practice for over 20 years and managed a practice of my own for part of this time. I am appreciative and forever grateful for that opportunity. As a member of UF's faculty, I can continue with my passion of being a pediatrician. I also enjoy the privilege of having access to the most up-to-date knowledge that I can use to provide the best care for my patients.
