About me
Paola Maurtua-Neumann, MD, is a fellowship-trained and board-certified pediatric infectious disease specialist. As the only pediatric infectious disease specialist in North Florida, she treats children with conditions such as respiratory infections, bone and joint infections, tuberculosis, hepatitis, meningitis, MRSA infection and C. difficile, as well as Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases and infections.
Dr. Maurtua-Neumann completed her residency training in pediatrics at New York State University at Buffalo in New York and her fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at the Tulane University-LSU combined Pediatric Infectious Diseases Training Program in New Orleans. She comes to Pensacola from the University of South Alabama Children’s Medical Center, where she was an assistant professor of pediatrics. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society. She has been published in the Emerging Infectious Diseases journal, a publication by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She’s also written book chapters for Neonatal and Pediatric Pharmacology: Therapeutic Principles in Practice and Hunter’s Tropical Medicine and Emerging Infectious Disease.
Dr. Maurtua-Neumann is employed by the University of Florida and practices at Ascension Sacred Heart in Pensacola.
