Surgical Oncology
Sometimes, a patient's injuries or condition are too severe for standard medicinal or rehabilitative treatment. When this happens, the patient may require surgery. Surgical oncology is concerned with surgeries related to the removal of cancerous tissues and tumors.
Surgery may require the patient to stay in the hospital from one to several days or longer. However, with modern techniques and instruments, many surgeries today do not require the patient to stay overnight. Many times, the patient may be released the same day.
The goal for all UF Health surgeries is to provide a safe and comfortable experience while undergoing a surgery.
