Hematology and Oncology
Hematology is a subspecialty of medicine concerned with the study of blood, the blood-forming organs, and blood diseases. Hematology includes the study of etiology, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and prevention of blood diseases.
Oncology is the subspecialty that deals with cancer. A medical professional who practices oncology is an oncologist.
The Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Florida is dedicated to the mitigation of suffering and death due to cancer and blood disorders through laboratory and clinical research-based patient care and education.
