Breast Cancer Surgery

UF Health breast surgeons provide quality, innovative care to patients with breast cancer and benign breast diseases. We are proud to care for patients at UF Health Shands Hospital, recently ranked one of the nation’s top hospitals for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report.

We offer the latest in surgical care for breast disease, including image-guided surgery, lumpectomy, skin-sparing mastectomy, nipple-sparing mastectomy, modified radical mastectomy, sentinel node biopsy, and axillary dissection and single-dose intraoperative radiation therapy (INTRABEAM). Our surgeons are fellowship-trained, specializing in the care of breast cancer patients.

Our breast surgeons work closely with other UF Health physicians as part of a multidisciplinary health care team at the UF Health Breast Center, which is a National Center of Excellence in Breast Cancer, accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). Our center is comprised of a key team of breast surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, geneticists, nurses, and plastic and reconstructive surgeons to provide you with leading edge treatment options and the highest quality and compassionate care.

Our center ensures an accurate diagnosis by using cutting-edge techniques such as 3D mammogram, MRI, and minimally invasive breast biopsy. We offer a full range of reconstructive techniques, many of which can be performed at the same time as your cancer surgery.

We offer personalized care and treatments to optimize each patient’s outcomes, and our breast navigator coordinates care to streamline clinic visits and hospital procedures. Clinical trials are available for appropriate patients as we strive to continually improve our patients’ breast cancer survival.
