Our goal and commitment

Our MEG Laboratory began in 2023, driven by a commitment to quality healthcare and pioneering research. Our mission is to harness technology and effect change in the lives of individuals with neurological challenges. We are steadfast in our pursuit of knowledge and in our dedication to delivering the highest quality care to our patients.

Doctor and patient hugging

We are proud to care for patients at UF Health Shands Hospital, ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals for neurology and neurosurgery by U.S. News & World Report.

We aim to push the boundaries of what is achievable and translate our research into tangible, real-world solutions. We hope is to advance the clinical applications of MEG, catering to essential clinical needs. We aim to refine diagnostics, enhance treatments and foster a greater understanding of the brain. Our expertise can transform the landscape of neuroimaging and the quality of life for those we serve.

We strive to collaborate and operate in partnership with esteemed institutions and researchers. Through this collaborative synergy, we aim to magnify the impact of our collective research efforts. The team at the MEG Lab is dedicated to pioneering innovative technologies within our research.

Our commitment extends to garnering wide recognition for our work. By sharing our findings, we can enrich global knowledge and kindle further research in related fields.

Our approach encompasses clinical and research application development, training, collaboration and impactful dissemination. Through this approach, we seek to make substantial contributions to the neuroscience field. It is our hope that beyond that, we can leave a lasting imprint on both healthcare and science.

Our technology

Magnetoencephalography (MEG) captures the magnetic fields produced by electrical activity. It also uses excellent spatiotemporal precision. It offers insights into brain functions through spectral properties in various frequency bands. It provides a deeper look at the spatiotemporal dynamics of neural signals. This tool enhances our understanding of the brain's functions, enabling breakthroughs in neuroscience. MEG detects weak magnetic fields generated by synchronized brain activities. At the same time, a magnetically shielded room (MSR) ensures zero outside interference.
