Our focus

At the MEG Lab, our top goal is offering quality services and expertise. We us this goal to propel research across a number of fundamental and translational fields. We actively collaborate with researchers, both within our university and beyond, in advanced applications of MEG, aimed at unraveling the intricacies of human brain function. Our pursuits extend to improving the diagnosis and treatment of various neurological conditions, as well as contributing to broader neuroscience endeavors. See example research areas of our MEG Lab below.

Our commitment is unwavering when it comes to pushing the boundaries of MEG technology and its applications in neuroscience. Our research pursuits extend beyond these specific areas, as our lab continuously ventures into new frontiers within the field of neuroimaging.

Research areas

1. Language mapping

Lab specializes in MEG, functional MRI, and high-gamma modulation in intracranial EEG recordings. We explore pre-surgical language mapping to predict outcomes after brain surgery. These advanced techniques aid in mapping the language areas of the brain.

2. Brain connectivity analysis and AI

Using analysis and artificial intelligence (AI), we examine the brain on a deeper level. Our goal is understanding both the healthy brain and its role in diagnosing neurological diseases. Through our work, we aim to provide biomarkers for diagnosing and treating neurological disorders such as epilepsy or dementias.

3. Movement disorders

Through deep brain stimulation (DBS), our research looks at causes of movement disorders. Better insight into these disorders can support developing enhanced diagnostic and treatment approaches. The precision of MEG offers deeper investigation of neural dynamics underlying neurological issues. The ultimate goal is groundbreaking interventions resulting in improved quality of life for our patients.

4. Neurogenerative diseases

We examine the neural processes associated with Alzheimer's disease and other conditions. Our research aims to inform early detection and precise diagnostics. Through our findings, we intend to improve the lives of patients with neurogenerative diseases.

5. Neuromuscular disorders

The ability to capture real-time brain activity has enhanced research for neuromuscular disorders. The relationship between motor function and brain activity is crucial to understanding disorders like Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Our team aims to improve both diagnostic and treatment of neuromuscular disorders.
