At UF Health Shands Hospital, we are leaders in providing compassionate, patient-centered care. We offer the full spectrum of pregnancy care from the most normal to the most complex, tailoring to the needs of individual women and their pregnancies.
When it comes time to give birth, our newly renovated labor and delivery rooms encourage an environment of comfort and peace with various amenities, including wireless monitoring, soaking tubs, a couch/chair for spouse/support persons, a large flat screen television and more. At UF Health, moms choose how to manage their labor and delivery. We offer various birth intervention options and encourage immediate skin-to-skin contact for you and your infant. Complementary valet parking is available to pregnant patients and their driver for Triage visits and on the day of delivery.

There are sometimes factors that lead to more focused and specialized pregnancy care. If you are diagnosed with conditions, such as preeclampsia or gestational diabetes, or if a high-risk pregnancy is a possibility, you are in good hands with the experts at UF Health’s Maternal Fetal Care Program. The program is home to specialists across disciplines, including neonatology, maternal fetal medicine and pediatric surgery, among others, and care is delivered at the highest caliber.
Fatigue, morning sickness and unusual food cravings are all symptoms commonly associated with pregnancy. However, each stage of a woman’s pregnancy brings different hormonal changes, challenges and the need to make lifestyle adjustments. Be sure to reference UF Health’s list of common pregnancy symptoms and best practices to ensure you’re feeling your healthiest during this exciting journey.
