About me
My name is Alexandra Monaco, MD, and I am a clinical assistant professor at the University of Florida Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. I earned my medical degree from the UF College of Medicine. Following medical school, I completed my residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and my fellowship in complex family planning at Columbia University, where I also earned a Master of Science in sociomedical sciences. My research interests include complex family planning, contraception, patient advocacy and quality improvement. Additionally, I am a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Society of Family Planning.
My clinical interests include birth control and family planning, pregnancy care, miscarriage, Pap test, cervical dysplasia, abnormal uterine bleeding and general women’s health. I enjoy working with patients during impactful times in their lives, while also building relationships with patients over time. Obstetrics and gynecology offers a unique combination of medicine and surgery, and the opportunity to regularly advocate for the needs of my patients at many levels. As a physician, I encourage patients to ask difficult questions and advocate for what they need. I want patients to know I will always provide a safe space where they can speak freely and I will listen. I strive to use shared decision-making and evidence-based medicine to form the best care plan for my patients.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, being outside in nature and spending time with my dog, family and friends.
