My bio
My name is Amir Jafari, DO, and I am an assistant professor of anesthesiology in the University of Florida Division of Pain Medicine. I chose the field of pain medicine because of my experience with a loved one who suffers with chronic pain. Providing high-quality care can evoke positive changes for a patient and their family members. This principle has been the focus of my work as an educator, interventional pain physician and traveling medical services volunteer.
I received my bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of California San Diego and my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. Afterward, I completed my residency in anesthesiology at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and an interventional pain fellowship here at UF.
My current interests include the advancement of minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery at UF Health, as well as research examining the effectiveness of spinal cord stimulation for pain relief. I also have expertise with sacroiliac joint fusion, Intracept and Vertiflex procedures, kyphoplasty and spine jack for vertebral compression fracture and treatment of Bertolotti’s syndrome with endoscopic approach.
I strive to understand my patients’ health priorities and treat them with respect and compassion. My goal is to work closely with my patients to address concerns and devise individualized treatment plans that are tailored to their goals. During my free time, I enjoy running, weight training and wakeboarding.
