My bio
Hello! I'm Amy Crews, an audiologist at UF Health Audiology, where I currently serve as a cochlear implant audiologist specializing in implantable devices, including auditory osseointegrated implants (AOI) and cochlear implants. In my role, I perform evaluations for candidacy and program devices. My passion lies in serving the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.
My journey into audiology was deeply influenced by my personal experiences growing up with hearing loss. From a young age, I wore hearing aids, providing me with a unique perspective on the challenges faced by patients with hearing loss. Raised in a household where American Sign Language (ASL) was our primary means of communication, I became fluent in ASL and underwent speech therapy until 5th grade.
I earned a Doctor of Audiology from the University of Florida in 2022, building upon my Bachelor of Health Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the UF in 2018. My decision to pursue a career in audiology was driven by a desire to give back to others facing similar challenges.
Throughout my educational journey, I've been actively involved in the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (HOH) community and volunteered with organizations such as Nemours Children's Hospital in my hometown of Jacksonville. These experiences have shaped my commitment to advocacy and outreach, particularly for children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
As an audiologist at UF Health Audiology, my goal is to continue learning and growing while providing compassionate, patient-centered care. I believe in offering comprehensive counseling and presenting all available options to ensure each patient receives the best possible care tailored to their individual needs and preferences.
Outside of work, I'm a Florida native who enjoys spending time at the beach, traveling to new destinations, exploring local cuisines, and indulging in my passion for refurbishing furniture and crafting home decor.
I look forward to continuing my journey in audiology and making a positive impact on the lives of my patients and the community.
