Angelina V Bernier, MD

Hi, I’m Dr. Angelina Bernier, a pediatric endocrinologist at the University of Florida. I focus my time on establishing clinical expertise and innovation in the care of children with obesity and diabetes. I was drawn to medicine when I was 13 years old and allowed to assist in the delivery of my youngest brother. No other life calling for me could compare. Then before medical school, I was invited to volunteer at Florida Diabetes Camp which happily steered my training course towards Pediatric Endocrinology.

I am grateful to have received funding from private foundations and local grants to support clinical studies of advanced diabetes technology and educational multimedia programs to improve the care and education of children with diabetes. I aim to guide and support healing for children and families who struggle with endocrine conditions especially those related to obesity with particular focus on comorbidities such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and prediabetes leading to diabetes.

I serve as the Medical Director of the Metabolic & Obesity clinic and bring together a multidisciplinary team to provide contemporary, comprehensive care in the form of genetic screening, metabolic and physical fitness assessments along with use of new pharmacotherapies . I am the Pediatric Medical Advisor of the UF Health Bariatric Surgery Center,member of the UF Diabetes Institute and Program Director of the Pediatric Endocrine Fellowship. My goal as a physician is to care for individuals as a whole and focus on heart health outcomes as they may relate to their underlying endocrine condition.

In my free time, I love playing volleyball, cooking healthy delicious meals for my family and exploring the world around me.
