My bio

My name is Caitlin Salerno, and I'm a speech-language pathologist at UF Health. I hold a master of arts in speech-language pathology from Kean University, NJ, and a bachelor of science in speech-language pathology and audiology from Stockton University, NJ.

Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working across various settings, including inpatient acute care, outpatient rehab and early intervention birth-3 services. I hold certifications from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, as well as licenses in Florida, and specialized training including being a certified brain injury specialist, PROMPT, VitalStim, PECS, and Beckman Oral Motor.

My journey into speech-language pathology was sparked by observing my mother working in a special needs classroom, where I witnessed the transformative impact of speech therapy on nonverbal children with Autism. This experience fueled my passion for the field, leading me to choose the same career path and complete my first internship in that very school.

As a speech-language pathologist, my goal is to provide essential services to my patients and empower their families with effective communication strategies, ultimately enhancing their quality of life. I take pride in offering a comprehensive range of services to both pediatric and adult populations, collaborating closely with other rehabilitation providers, BCBAs and educators to ensure holistic care. My areas of expertise include evaluating and treating language disorders, AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), dysphagia, motor speech disorders, and cognitive rehabilitation following brain injury. I am dedicated to enhancing communication and swallowing abilities for individuals of all ages.

Outside of work, I find joy in activities such as CrossFit, spending time outdoors or at the beach and traveling with my two rescue pitbulls. One of my dogs is a certified therapy dog, providing comfort and support to children and adults alike. Family holds a special place in my heart, and I often travel to New Jersey to visit my loved ones.
