My bio
Hi, my name is Dana L. Ulmer, and Iām an audiologist at the UF Health Hearing Center. I was exposed to the field of audiology at a young age. My grandmother began losing her hearing early in life, and by her 40s, she had a profound hearing loss and wore bilateral hearing aids. I learned early on how good communication strategies, well-fitted amplification, and a well-trained, compassionate audiologist could make all the difference between suffering through hearing loss and living with it.
As a pediatric audiologist, my role is to identify and provide appropriate intervention for children with hearing loss, whether from a failed newborn hearing screening, failed school or pediatrician screening, or a congenital condition. My goal is to provide intervention, guidance, and support for my patients' caregivers, medical teams, and educators to ensure they meet their full potential. I work closely with patients and their families to provide individualized care on a personal, one-on-one level.
Outside of work, I love to read and use it as a way to decompress after a stressful day. My family and I love to visit Walt Disney World whenever we can. My husband and I enjoy spending time in the parks with our two girls, experiencing the magic through their eyes.
