Biography: JOSEPH J. KING, III, M.D., earned his medical degree at Drexel University in 2006 before going on to complete his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Drexel University and his Clinical Research Fellowship in Orthopaedic Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania.

He came to UF in 2012 to work in the Department of Orthopaedics to pursue a fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and work as a staff member within the Orthopaedic division.

Dr. King's clinical practice focuses on shoulder and knee arthroscopy advances techniques for rotator cuff surgery, shoulder and elbow replacement including revision surgery, traumatic injuries to the shoulder and elbow, and reverse shoulder replacement. He is interested as well in cutting edge procedures such as superior capsular reconstruction for chronic rotator cuff tears, knee subchondroplasty, and shoulder replacement using computer navigation.

He has published various works in journals including the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, Orthopaedics and Traumatology: Surgery and Research (OTSR), Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy (KSSTA), International Orthopaedics, and the Journal of Hand Surgery.

Dr. King participates in various organizations such as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Southern Orthopaedic Association, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons society, Health Volunteers Overseas, the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the Florida Orthopaedic Society organizations. He is also a committee member for the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Committtee on Multicenter Research and heads the Multicenter Committee on Proximal Humerus Fractures.
