Laurie A Solomon, MD : Bio and credentials

Dr. Laurie Solomon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida and serves as the Assistant Program Director for the Addiction Medicine Fellowship. She is board-certified in General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and fellowship-trained in Addiction Medicine, with certification from both the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) and the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM).

Dr. Solomon earned her bachelor’s and medical degrees from Universidad Iberoamericana in the Dominican Republic. After returning to the U.S., she completed a pediatric internship at Goryeb Children’s Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey, followed by a psychiatry residency and addiction medicine fellowship at the University of Florida.

At UF Health Florida Recovery Center, Dr. Solomon provides integrated care for adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions, including mood, anxiety, neurodevelopmental, and psychotic disorders. Her clinical background spans inpatient psychiatric crisis units, outpatient mental health clinics, and medical detox programs.

She is a designated evaluator for the Florida Department of Health, the Professionals Resource Network, and the Intervention Project for Nurses, and conducts psychiatric consultations for physician health programs across multiple states. Prior to joining UF Health, Dr. Solomon served as an attending psychiatrist at Meridian Behavioral, providing care across age groups in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She later joined Sarkis Family Psychiatry/Sarkis Clinical Trials, where she treated patients of all ages and contributed as a sub-investigator on multiple clinical trials.

Dr. Solomon is also a consultant for Anew Gainesville, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing and supporting survivors of human trafficking. Since 2011, she has volunteered at Helping Hands Clinic, and her commitment to service has been recognized with the Donna Buchanan Resident Grant and the Resident Physician Service Award.
