My bio
My name is Manuel A. Amaris, and I joined the University of Florida Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition as an associate professor and motility program director. I am a board-certified gastroenterologist with over 15 years of experience treating complex patients with abnormal gastrointestinal motility, esophageal dysmotility, and brain-gut interaction disorders. My work focuses on an integrative, multidisciplinary, and patient-centered approach, involving collaborations with the lung transplant and Parkinson’s clinics.
I completed my internal medicine residency at Stroger Hospital of Cook County in Chicago and an NIH-sponsored fellowship in gastroenterology with an emphasis on gastrointestinal motility at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Additionally, I serve as the gastrointestinal motility director for lung transplant patients and the motility teaching director for gastroenterology fellows. I have published several peer-reviewed articles and have spoken nationally and internationally on the complex interactions between the gastrointestinal tract, lungs, and brain.
In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer and traveling with my family.
